Amtrak Express Shipping

Ship with Amtrak

As an added measure to ensure the health and safety of our customers and employees, Amtrak will temporarily be accepting only shipments under 250 pounds per customer. In addition, human remains will not be accepted.

We offer small package and less-than-truckload shipping services between more than 100 cities. For more information about rates, schedules and permitted items, call 1-800-377-6914 (8 am - 8 pm ET, Monday through Friday). Only shipping information is available at this number; for all other questions, please call 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245).

Before arriving at the station, ensure your Express items are packed appropriately, in suitable containers for transport. Unsuitable containers including trash bags, plastic shipping containers, large packing boxes, containers that let sharp/pointed items protrude or containers that cannot securely hold contents or prevent exposure to weather will not be accepted.

Bikes must be securely packed in a box; you may bring your own box or purchase one at the station (call ahead for details and to make sure that boxes are available). Bicycles are generally exempt from Amtrak Express size requirements.

Human Remains

Amtrak Express offers station-to-station shipment of remains to many Express cities. At most stations, funeral directors must provide staff to load and unload the remains onto and off the train. The level of assistance required must be confirmed with the local Amtrak station agent at the origin and destination points.
