Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

Costin Corneanu is Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (EVP, CFO), serving in this role since August 2025. He joined Amtrak in March 2020 as Vice President of Finance and held various roles, including Senior Vice President and Deputy CFO.

Costin and his team are responsible for planning, directing and overseeing all financial activities for Amtrak. His portfolio encompasses the Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, Audit, Treasury, Risk and Controls, Capital Portfolio Governance and Grants group.

Under his leadership, the Finance team prepares finance reports, forecasts and strategic plans for future business growth and economic outlooks. It also sets a long-term vision, priorities and budgets within the context of Amtrak’s strategic plans.

In a career spanning nearly two decades, Costin has gained varied experience in financial management, business leadership and corporate strategy. He has emphasized partnering with internal stakeholders to improve performance and efficiency.

Prior to joining Amtrak, he spent eight years at Spirit Airlines, where he rose to Head of Finance. This was preceded by four years at US Airways, where Costin served in different finance functions and earned a series of promotions with increased responsibilities.

Costin graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication and a Master of Business Administration in Aviation Finance.
