How to Ride the Auto Train

Auto train takes you and your vehicle between the Washington, D.C. and Orlando areas,

Bypassing the congested I-95 corridor.

You fill your vehicle with luggage,

And we load it on the train,

So you can relax all the way to your destination.

Check your reservation on the day of travel for vehicle drop-off times.

You'll line up.

Take necessities with you (vehicles are not accessible during the trip).

We'll load your vehicle,

And you're free to board

For a comfortable, stress-free journey,

Or one of four First Class room types.

First Class fares even include onboard dining.

Private Rooms and Seating

Coach class features wide, reclining seats with ample legroom and no middle seat. Plus, all Auto Train Coach interiors have been refreshed with new seat cushions and upholstery, carpeting and window curtains. Upgrade your experience with one of four types of First Class private rooms (Roomettes, Bedrooms, Family Rooms and Accessible Bedrooms) that include new bedding, linens, pillows and towels.

Vehicle Size Guidelines

Check-In

On the day of departure, check-in starts at 11:30 am and ends at 2:00 pm for oversized vehicles, motorcycles, trailers and vehicles with Priority Offloading. Check-in ends at 2:30 pm for all other standard and extended vehicles. Exceptions cannot be made, so plan your arrival accordingly.

Complimentary traditional dining service is provided in the Dining Car for First Class private room customers. Dinner and a hot breakfast are served onboard.

Free Wi-Fi

Enjoy free basic Wi-Fi throughout your Auto Train journey—including at the departing station, onboard and upon arrival.

Auto Train duration is 17.5 hours and makes a service stop around midnight in Florence, SC. If a service animal needs to be taken off the train to relieve itself, notify a Conductor and onboard personnel.
