Travel between Louisiana and California along our southern-most route. While onboard the Sunset Limited, settle back and watch the Bayou Country, Mexican border, southwestern deserts and California mountains pass by your window. Three trains depart weekly in each direction with an enhanced schedule and departure times for westbound trains. You can also make connections to additional Amtrak trains, including the Texas Eagle, Coast Starlight, Pacific Surfliner and San Joaquins.

Diverse Destinations

Deboard in Alpine, Texas to visit Big Bend National Park, in Tucson to visit Saguaro National Park, or in Maricopa, Arizona, the gateway to Phoenix and the resorts and spas of Scottsdale.

Amtrak Thruway Service offers connecting transportation between the Maricopa, AZ station and Phoenix Metro Center, Phoenix Airport and Tempe from the Sunset Limited. Amtrak takes care of booking and ticketing, so you can see more and do more on your trip.
