Lounge access is subject to eligibility. Single Visit Passes are available for purchase at all Metropolitan Lounge locations.

 

Metropolitan Lounges

Relax and enjoy comfortable, quiet lounge seating, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and free Wi-Fi.  Attendants are available to assist with reservations, ticketing and local information. Features and amenities may vary by location.

Who is Eligible for Lounge Access?

Lounge access is open to those with a same-day ticket and one of the following:

  • Amtrak Guest Rewards members with Select Plus or Select Executive status.
  • Amtrak Guest Rewards Station Lounge Pass.
  • First Class or private room ticket.
  • Business class passengers may use the Metropolitan Lounge in Portland as well as the Private Waiting Rooms in St. Paul/Minneapolis and St. Louis.
  • Private car owners/lessee and party between time of arrival and departure specified in the reservation. Provide your reservation number to the Amtrak representative upon entry.
    • Due to space restrictions, private car owners and their groups are not permitted in the Los Angeles - Union Station Metropolitan Lounge.
  • Pets are not allowed in any Amtrak station lounge or First Class waiting area.

Conference Rooms

We're pleased to offer our travelers access to complimentary conference rooms at select locations. Conference rooms are booked on a first-come, first-served basis and usage is limited to a two-hour time period. Customers reserving conference rooms may be accompanied by attendees. Meeting organizers must arrive before other participants are allowed to enter.

Private Waiting Rooms

Separate, unstaffed waiting rooms are available in New Orleans, St. Louis, St. Paul/Minneapolis and Wilmington stations. Sleeping car passengers and Amtrak Guest Rewards Select Plus and Select Executive members are welcome at all Private Waiting Room locations. Business Class passengers may also use the Private Waiting Rooms in St. Louis and St. Paul/Minneapolis.

The following terms and conditions govern the entrance, use and enjoyment of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation’s (“Amtrak”) Metropolitan Lounge(s) located in Boston (BOS); Chicago (CHI); Los Angeles (LAX); New York (NYP) Philadelphia (PHL); Portland, OR (PDX); and Washington, DC (WAS) (the foregoing are individually or collectively the “Lounge(s).”) By using any of the Lounges, guests hereby agree to comply with the following terms and conditions:

Lounge Conduct

  1. Guests will be courteous to fellow Amtrak guests and Amtrak employees in the Lounge.
  2. Guests should be fully clothed while in the Lounge, including wearing shoes. Guests’ clothing should be appropriate and not offensive.
  3. Food and beverages made available by Amtrak in the Lounges are provided for consumption and use inside the Lounges only and may not be taken outside of Lounges. Third-party food or beverages may be brought into the Lounges, excluding alcohol.
  4. As a courtesy to other guests, headphones or earbuds must be worn when using personal devices such as smartphones, tablets and other electronic devices, and using the speaker feature on any electronic device is not permitted.
  5. Smoking is not permitted in Lounges. The use of any tobacco or marijuana products, including but not limited to cigarettes, pipes, chewing tobacco and cigars, as well as electronic devices such as e-cigarettes and vaping products, is not permitted inside any Lounge.
  6. Use of any illegal or prohibited substances, including but not limited to drugs, is not permitted inside any Lounge.
  7. Where applicable, Amtrak reserves the right to refuse to serve alcoholic beverages to any member or guest who appears to be intoxicated or is otherwise acting inappropriately. Alcoholic beverages will not be served to anyone under 21 years old.
  8. Lying on the floor, lying on or placing feet on the furniture, or moving furniture is prohibited inside all Lounges.
  9. Solicitation is prohibited inside all Lounges.
  10. Amtrak will not be held responsible for personal articles, including but not limited to luggage, that may be lost or stolen inside any Lounge.

Admittance

  1. Duration and Timing of Lounge Visit: Any access to the Lounge may occur only during the three hours immediately prior to the scheduled departure time for the guest’s train. For First Class and AGR Select Executive and Select Plus guests, this time limit is not applicable during the time period between two connecting trains on the same itinerary. First Class guests and Amtrak Guest Rewards Select Executive and Select Plus customers may also access the Lounge upon arrival at their destination station. Additionally, guests with delayed trains may also extend their visits past three hours until their actual departure time.
  2. Age: Individuals must be 18 or older to enter the Metropolitan Lounge, unless accompanied by a supervising adult 18 or older.
  3. Access via “Single Visit Pass”: A Single Visit Pass is valid for use at the Lounge location where the purchase was made and requires a same-day ticket for Amtrak service. Purchased access is subject to availability at Amtrak’s sole discretion. One (1) child under 12 years old may accompany an individual accessing a Lounge with a Single Visit Pass; however, no other guests are permitted, and each additional guest must purchase a pass if available.
  4. Access via First Class (including Acela or Private Room accommodation): is extended to guests traveling on an Amtrak route or service that offers First Class (Acela or Private Room) accommodations. Guest must hold a valid same-day ticket for that Class type. One (1) child under 12 years old may accompany a ticketed adult; however, any additional travelers traveling in other Class accommodations must have their own eligible ticket or may purchase a Single Visit Pass if available.
  5. Access via Amtrak Guest Rewards status: is extended to “Select Plus” and “Select Executive” tier members holding a same-day ticket for Amtrak service. A government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license, passport or military ID) may be required for admittance, and must match both the Amtrak Guest Rewards member and ticket holder’s name. Amtrak Guest Rewards members may enter the lounge with immediate family members (spouse or domestic partner, children) or one non-familial guest. All guests must also be ticketed for same-day Amtrak service.
    1. Amtrak Guest Rewards membership is nontransferable and physical or digital member cards may not be loaned to others. Amtrak representatives will confiscate membership cards that are expired or presented by anyone other than the member.
    2. Members must accompany their family and guests during their Metropolitan Lounge visit. Members are responsible for ensuring guests and family members comply with these Rules.
    3. Amtrak Guest Rewards members who bring more guests than allowed will be charged for any additional guests at the current cost of a Single Visit Pass.
  6. Access via Amtrak Guest Reward’s Preferred Mastercard: access is extend to guests holding Amtrak Guest Reward’s Preferred Mastercard (“cardholder”), who are granted one (1) Lounge pass upon opening their account and one (1) annually upon their card opening anniversary. A government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license, passport or military ID) may be required for admittance, and must match both the cardholder and ticket holder’s name. Cardholders using their Preferred Mastercard’s Lounge passes may enter the lounge with immediate family members (spouse or domestic partner, children) or one non-familial guest. All guests must also be ticketed for same-day Amtrak service. Cardholders who bring more guests than allowed will be charged for any additional guests at the current cost of a Single Visit Pass.
  7. Prohibited actions: Amtrak retains the right to refuse access and/or bar future access to any guest who undertakes the following actions in attempt to gain entrance to the Lounge:
    1. Sharing an eligible travel document: Sharing a travel document (e.g., a First Class ticket) with a guest who is not named on the reservation is prohibited.
    2. Purchasing an eligible ticket, then canceling ticket before travel: Purchasing an eligible ticket to gain access to the Lounge, and then canceling that ticket prior to travel, is prohibited.

Miscellaneous

  1. Amtrak reserves the right to remove any guest from a Lounge for their violation of these Amtrak Metropolitan Lounge Terms & Conditions set forth herein, or any other conduct that Amtrak deems inappropriate.
  2. Amtrak reserves the right to revise these Amtrak Metropolitan Lounge Terms & Conditions set forth herein at any time, with or without notice. Other terms and conditions may apply to guests’ entrance and use of the Lounges.
  3. Amtrak®, Acela® and Amtrak Guest Rewards® are registered service marks of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation.
