• When does the Winter Park Express operate?

  The Winter Park Express offers a total of 57 round trips in 2025/2026 — with service every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday beginning Friday December 19 ending Sunday January 4 & Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday beginning January 8 ending March 29.

  The train departs Denver (DEN) at 7:00 am and arrives in Winter Park (WPR) at 9:11 am. The return trip departs Winter Park at 4:35 pm and arrives in Denver at 7:05 pm.
• What about weekday service?

  For additional access to the resort, the California Zephyr — operating daily between Chicago and the San Francisco Bay area via Denver and Salt Lake City — includes service to Winter Park Resort (WPS) via a shuttle connection at Fraser, CO. Be sure to enter station code ‘WPS’ if you are booking the shuttle.
  
• How do I book a trip?

  Visit the fare finder on this page the Amtrak app. Then, select either a one-way or roundtrip ticket. Next, select your origin and destination (either DEN to WPR, WPR to DEN, DEN to WIP or WIP to DEN). Finally, select your desired travel date(s). Fares and options to book will be available on the next screen.
• Do you offer group reservations?

  Customers in small groups of up to eight can purchase Winter Park Express tickets at the fare finder on this page and the Amtrak app. Customers in groups of 9 - 14 can call 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) to make a reservation. Groups of 15 or more — including requests for exclusive car occupancy — should make a group travel request and an Amtrak representative will contact you. For more information about group travel, call 1-800-USA-1GRP (1-800-872-1477) Monday through Friday, 6 am - 6 pm MT.
  
• Are there any discounts available on fares?

  Yes. Kids 2-12 ride for 50% off. Additional everyday discounts are available for seniors, students, members of the military and customers with a disability.
  
• How can I locate the stations?

• What can I bring onboard? Can I bring my skis?

  Winter Park Express customers can bring two carry-on items and one personal item. Skis are part of your carry-on baggage and will be stored in a dedicated baggage area aboard the train. There is no extra fee for bringing your skis onboard.

  Alcoholic beverages cannot be brought onboard on the Winter Park Express. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks can be purchased onboard in the cafe.
• Can I purchase food and drinks onboard?

  During your trip, be sure to visit the bi-level Sightseer Lounge — offering panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains and Moffat Tunnel from upstairs and cafe service with snacks and drinks for sale downstairs.
• How early should I arrive?

  We recommend arriving at the station at least 30 minutes prior to departure.
• Do you offer lift tickets?

  Lift tickets can be purchased directly from the resort.
• What if I need to change or cancel my train ticket?

• Is this service available for travelers with a disability?

  Yes. Each departure offers dedicated accessible seating and both Denver (DEN) and Winter Park (WPR) are fully accessible stations. Additionally, customers can book a seat on the lower level of the car, which eliminates the usage of stairs.
• Do I earn Amtrak Guest Rewards points? Can I redeem them to purchase a ticket?

  Amtrak Guest Rewards members earn 2 points per dollar spent on the Winter Park Express. Redeeming points for this train is not available at this time.
