Amtrak Connection buses in Virginia connect at Charlottesville, Richmond – Staples Mill, Richmond Main Street, Lynchburg, Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Newport News, with seamless, convenient connections to and from the Crescent, Cardinal and Northeast Regional.
Like our trains, our buses utilize full-size, modern intercity coaches with comfortable reclining seats, at-seat electrical outlets, onboard restroom and Wi-Fi. Book your ticket here on Amtrak.com, through the Amtrak app, 24 hours by phone or at the station. Bus passengers must be ticketed before boarding the coach. Baggage is limited to two carry-on items. Checked baggage service is available on the Crescent and Cardinal services at Richmond – Main Street and Charlottesville stations.
Long Bridge Project
To accommodate the Long Bridge Project—a transformative multi-year construction effort to increase rail capacity between Virginia and D.C.—Amtrak has temporarily adjusted its schedule, including the removal of one daily Norfolk round-trip train and one daily Richmond round-trip train. To keep you moving, we’ve launched additional Amtrak Connection Bus service between Hampton Roads and Richmond direct to D.C. The Hampton Roads service provides direct daily connections from Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Newport News to Washington Union Station. The Richmond service provides direct daily connections from both Richmond’s Main Street and Staples Mill Stations to Washington Union Station. By utilizing this hybrid bus-train model, we ensure you stay connected to the capital and the national rail network while we build the infrastructure for more frequent and reliable rail service.
