Over a century ago, Colonel Allensworth and four other settlers established a town founded, financed, and governed by African Americans. This place was where hard work, dedication, and faith would allow them and their children the opportunity to control their own discrimination-free destiny. The annual Rededication event renews the commitment to the park and its history.
Make riding the train part of your historical day at Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park. The Rededication Event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include activities such as:
- Storytelling and tours of historic buildings
- Food vendors
- Live entertainment
- Arts and Crafts
- Free shuttle service from the train platform to the park
