Over a century ago, Colonel Allensworth and four other settlers established a town founded, financed and governed by African Americans. This place was where hard work, dedication and faith would allow them and their children the opportunity to control their own discrimination-free destiny. The annual Rededication event renews the commitment to the park and its history.
The Rededication Event will be held from 11 AM to 4 PM and include activities such as:
- Storytelling and tours of historic buildings
- Food vendors
- Live entertainment
- Arts and crafts
