<![CDATA[Amtrak Service Alerts & Passenger Service Notices - California ]]> Weblog Editor 2.0 <![CDATA[San Joaquin Trains 703 and 718: Track Work Affects Service between Fresno and Bakersfield]]> Effective Sundays through Thursdays Only, March  29 - April 16, 2015

Track work being performed by BNSF Railway, will affect San Joaquin service, on Sundays through Thursdays only, starting March 29 through April 16, 2015.

Southbound Train 718

Train 718, which normally operates between Oakland and Bakersfield, will operate from Oakland to Fresno, where passengers will detrain to board buses that will make stops at Hanford, Corcoran, Wasco and Bakersfield. Two buses will operate between Fresno and Bakersfield as follows:

  • An express bus, 3568, operates from Fresno to Hanford and Bakersfield with no stop at Corcoran and Wasco. This is the only bus that will connect with Bus 5768 to Southern California.
  • A local bus, 3518, operates from Fresno to Hanford, Corcoran, Wasco and Bakersfield. This bus will not connect with Bus 5768 to Southern California; passengers boarding this bus at Corcoran and Wasco will only be able to go as far south as Bakersfield. (Use other San Joaquin service from Corcoran or Wasco to go south of Bakersfield.)

Thruway Bus Change: Bus Number 5818 operating to Southern California will be changed to Bus Number 5768 and depart Bakersfield 21 minutes later at 12:20 a.m. the following morning just after midnight (Mondays through Fridays).

Northbound Train 703 Operates Later
  • Train 703 will not operate from Bakersfield to Fresno. Passengers will be provided bus service between Bakersfield, Wasco, Corcoran and Hanford and Fresno.
  • Train 703 will originate at Fresno, departing at 10:15 pm and depart one hour and 57 minutes later than the normal schedule at all stations from Fresno through its arrival at Sacramento. Train 703 will not connect with Coast Starlight Train 14 at Sacramento. Passengers connecting to Train 14 should use earlier Train 717 and connect to Train 14 at Martinez.
  • Thruway Bus Change: Bus Number 3403 operating between Stockton and San Francisco will be changed to Bus Number 3453 and depart Stockton two hours later at 12:30 am the following morning just after midnight (Mondays through Fridays).

All San Joaquin trains may encounter delays of up to 15 minutes on track work dates.

<![CDATA[Amtrak Moves from the Ferry Building to Transbay Temporary Terminal]]> Effective March 1, 2015
Service Ends February 28, 2015, at the Ferry Building

Amtrak will move its ticket office from the Ferry Building location at the close of business on Saturday, February 28, 2015, and begin serving Transbay Temporary Terminal on Sunday, March 1, 2015. The Transbay Temporary Terminal is located at Folsom and Beale approximately a half mile south of the Ferry building. The entrance to the facility is on Folsom Street between Main and Beale Streets.

The Transbay Temporary Terminal serves passengers connecting to and from San Joaquin, Capitol Corridor, Coast Starlight, California Zephyr and Coast buses from Southern California. Transbay Temporary Terminal will be staffed by Amtrak personnel and offer all services that were available at the Ferry Building, including checked baggage, ticketing, and passenger services. The hours of operation will also remain the same.

All tickets issued prior to March 1, 2015, will list the Ferry Building. However, passengers traveling on or after March 1, 2015, with tickets for the Ferry Building will use the Transbay Temporary Terminal.

Security Check

Upon entering the facility, passengers must show your Amtrak ticket or photo I.D. to the Greyhound Security Staff. Greyhound security will also inspect bags and wand passengers for metal contraband who enter the building. Please allow additional time arriving for this process. Thruway buses will board at Bus Bays #7 and #8.

Ferry Building Option

The Thruway bus stop at the Hyatt Hotel (5 Embarcadero Center) is conveniently located 2 blocks west of the Ferry Building station. All trains will have a Thruway bus connection at the Hyatt effective March 1, 2015.

New Thruway Schedules Coming Soon

All other San Francisco bus stops will remain at their present location, however, there may be some altering of bus departure and arrival times due to the bus route changes. A new schedule will be released prior to the March 1, 2015, effective date.
