Service Adjustments South of Washington, DC

Effective October 16 - 26, 2026

From October 16 – 26, planned infrastructure upgrades near Washington Union Station (WAS) will result in schedule changes on several routes operating south of Washington, DC.

Affected routes include the Amtrak Virginia Northeast Regional Service, Carolinian, Cardinal, Crescent, Floridian, Palmetto and Silver Meteor.

To support this work, some routes have been shortened, canceled, or replaced with supplemental bus service. Updated schedules are available on Amtrak.com, and affected customers have been contacted with information about their travel options.

This project will replace aging track components and improve reliability along the Northeast Corridor and into the Southeast. Completing this upgrade now during a short, coordinated outage will help prevent larger, unplanned disruptions in the future. Visit Amtrak.com/Washington-DC-Train-Status-Pause-for-Progress for more information on this project.
