Piedmont and Carolinian Service Adjustments

Effective August 31 - October 8, 2026

Customers traveling on select Piedmont and Carolinian service between Charlotte (CLT), Greensboro (GRO) and Raleigh Union Station (RGH) should be aware of temporary schedule changes, train cancellations and alternate transportation due to trackwork.

Eastbound Service (Toward Raleigh)

 

Weekday Operations (Monday - Thursday, except Labor Day, September 7)

  • Train 72 will terminate at Greensboro (GRO). Customers traveling beyond GRO will transfer to Bus 3172 between Greensboro (GRO) and Raleigh Union Station (RGH), serving all intermediate stations except Burlington (BNC).
  • Train 74 will be canceled and replaced by Bus 3174 between Charlotte (CLT) and Raleigh Union Station (RGH), serving all intermediate stations except Kannapolis (KAN) and Burlington (BNC).
  • Train 76 will depart Charlotte (CLT) 70 minutes later than normal, making all stops.
  • Train 78 will depart Charlotte (CLT) 105 minutes later than normal, making all stops.
  • Train 80 will depart Burlington 10 minutes later than normal and operate 25 minutes later than normal between Durham (DNC) and Raleigh Union Station (RGH).

Weekend and Labor Day Operations

  • Trains 72, 74, 76, 78 and 80 will operate on adjusted schedules. Please visit Amtrak.com for the schedule.

 

Westbound Service (Toward Charlotte)

 

Weekday Operations (Monday - Thursday, except Labor Day, September 7)

  • Train 71 will depart from Raleigh Union Station (RGH) 15 minutes earlier than normal, making all stops.
  • Train 73 will be canceled and replaced by Bus 3173 between Raleigh Union Station (RGH) and Charlotte (CLT), serving all intermediate stations except Burlington (BNC) and Kannapolis (KAN).
  • Train 75 will originate at Greensboro (GRO). Customers traveling between Raleigh Union Station (RGH) and Greensboro (GRO) will be provided with alternate transportation on Bus 3175, serving all intermediate stations except Burlington (BNC).
  • Train 77 will depart from Raleigh Union Station (RGH) approximately two hours later than normal, making all stops.
  • Train 79 will operate on an adjusted schedule between Durham (DNC) and Charlotte (CLT).

Weekend and Labor Day Operations

  • Trains 71, 73, 75, 77 and 79 will operate on adjusted schedules. Please visit Amtrak.com for the schedule.
