Due to popular demand, the Autumn Express excursion is back for another year. Come along for a historic train ride, departing from and returning to New York - Penn Station, NY and Newark - Penn Station, NJ, on Saturday and Sunday, October 29 and 30. Once again, we travel through small towns, historic tunnels, see key landmarks and experience rare mileage along a route that hasn't seen regular passenger service in decades.
Ride the Autumn Express excursion train and see parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania you can't see by car. This year's Autumn Express will start out in the Big Apple — New York City. After passing underneath the Hudson River we stop at Newark, NJ, for a transition from electric to diesel power. We then head west along the former Lehigh Valley Railroad including a trip thru the famous Musconetcong Tunnel opened in 1875. After crossing the Delaware River into Pennsylvania, we'll follow the Lehigh River to Allentown before we take you through the scenic farm country of Pennsylvania. We'll travel the former route of the Queen of the Valley passenger train as far as Harrisburg that hasn’t seen regularly scheduled passenger service since 1963. At Harrisburg, our train will change direction and head east over the Amtrak Keystone Corridor. After a photo stop at the Amtrak station in Lancaster, PA, we'll pass through scenic Lancaster County, home to the Pennsylvania Dutch on our way to Philadelphia. We'll follow the route of the PRR's Blue Ribbon Fleet through the New York and Pittsburgh Subway track at Zoo Tower where we'll rejoin the Amtrak Northeast Corridor for a high speed run back to Newark and New York. Don't miss out on this rare, exciting opportunity.
