  • Enter your departure and arrival cities and travel dates in the Fare Finder tool on the Home Page, or click the 'Book Now' button in the site header. Add any passenger discounts that you qualify for and the number of travelers, and click 'Find Trains'. You can book up to 8 passengers per reservation and reserve your tickets up to 11 months in advance. Available trains will be shown on the next page. When you find a train that meets your travel needs, click 'Add to Cart' above that train to continue your reservation.

  • If you have a profile on Amtrak.com, log in to see your upcoming reservations and select the reservation you want to change. 

    If you haven't created a profile, just select the 'Modify Trip' button in the site header. Then enter your reservation number and either your email address or your phone number and click 'Find Trip'. 

  • From the 'Schedules' link in the site header, use the form to find schedules between stations, or download and print timetables in PDF format for each route on the Amtrak Train Schedules page.

  • The cost of your ticket is the rail fare, plus any accommodations you wish to add to your ticket. We don't charge additional taxes or fees. Upgrades and add-ons include Business class, First class and Sleeping Accommodation, as well as bringing your vehicle (on the Auto Train) or bike with you.

  • The Deals page has information on our deals and offers including limited-time promotions, Multi-Ride Tickets, Rail Passes and a variety of everyday discounts.

  • You can use Amtrak.com to cancel your reservation if you made your reservation online. If you have made modifications to your trip after booking it online, you may not be able to cancel it online. If you paid for your one-way, round-trip or multi-ride reservations with a credit card or an eVoucher, you can also cancel it on Amtrak.com, even if you made your reservations on the phone, at a Amtrak kiosk or with a station agent. Refunds for canceled reservations will be applied to the original form of payment or an eVoucher. Cancellation fees may apply and not all tickets are eligible for cancellation.

  • eTicketing is enabled on nearly all Amtrak train routes and Thruway connecting bus services throughout the nation. Booking a trip, making reservation changes and boarding the train are more convenient than ever with eTickets. eTicketing simplifies the ticketing process and enhances your travel experience with Amtrak — no waiting in ticket lines at the station and no mailing cost. Simply present the eTicket on your smartphone/tablet screen to the conductor or print your eTicket and bring it with you to board the train.   • Most Amtrak tickets are refundable and can be canceled and refunded on Amtrak.com. A cancellation fee may apply in some cases. Refunds of eTickets may also be processed at ticket offices, by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL or through the Amtrak Refunds department. If paper value tickets were printed, the original paper ticket must be returned for any refund. Review the Refunds page more information about refund rules and how to receive a refund.

  • Use the free Amtrak mobile app for iPhone® and Android® for a fast and easy way to check train status while you're on the go. You can also check train status on Amtrak.com by clicking the 'Train Status' button in the site header.

    The Track a Train map is another powerful, interactive tool that shows you on a map where your train is and when it's expected to arrive at your destination.

  • Each passenger can bring 1 personal item (25 lbs. and 14 x 11 x 7 inches each) and 2 carry-on bags (50 lbs. and 28 x 22 x 14 inches each; 28 x 22 x 11 inches each on the Pacific Surfliner) onboard free of charge. Personal items such as a small bag or backpack must fit under the seat. Carry-on bags need to fit in the overhead rack or luggage tower. Passengers must be able to safely lift carry-on items over their heads onto the luggage shelf. Bags must fit in the sizer at the station. If they do not fit, speak with an agent or visit Amtrak.com to determine if your train offers checked baggage service.

    Each passenger can also check up to 4 bags - 2 free of charge and 2 for $20 per bag, each not to exceed 50 lbs. (23 kg), 75 linear inches (length + width + height).  Just make sure the origin and destination stations offer checked baggage service when you book your trip.

    You may be charged a baggage fee or denied boarding if your items exceed these limitations.
