Flooding on Metro-North Territory Near New Haven Causing Delays and Service Adjustments
September 13, 2026 07:00 PM
Due to flooding near New Haven, CT, train service has been disrupted while railroad crews inspect the affected tracks and ensure it is safe for trains to operate. As a result, some Amtrak trains may experience delays, cancellations, or alternate transportation accommodations. The affected area is located on Metro-North Railroad territory used by Amtrak trains operating along the Northeast Corridor. Because this section of track is owned and operated by Metro-North, Amtrak must rely on Metro-North personnel to assess conditions, complete inspections, perform any necessary repairs, and determine when it is safe to resume train operations through the area.
Amtrak is working closely with Metro-North and remains in regular contact regarding the status of the affected tracks. However, service through this area cannot resume until Metro-North has completed its inspections and authorizes train operations to proceed. As a result, delays and service adjustments could continue through tomorrow morning.
Customers on affected trains may be accommodated with alternate transportation between select stations as conditions allow. Customers whose travel plans are directly impacted will receive direct communication regarding any delays, cancellations, service modifications, or alternate transportation arrangements. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work with Metro-North to safely restore normal service.
