Richmond Station Boarding Platforms Impacted by Accessibility Project
Effective ImmediatelyThe Amtrak ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Improvement Project at the Richmond, CA, Station has started and will continue through January 2026. Platform access may be impacted but the station will remain open.
What to Expect
- Isolated areas of the platform will be under construction and protective barriers will keep passengers away from work areas.
- In September, the stairs will be replaced, which will close the platform and suspend service September 19 - 21, impacting Capitol Corridor and San Joaquins trains. Buses will run hourly between Richmond and Martinez on these days to accommodate passengers on the next available train.
- Directional signage will be posted to assist passengers in getting around construction and to bus pick-up locations.
- When the project is completed, the platform will be fully repaired, along with upgraded lighting, a new metal staircase from the tunnel/concourse, a repaired customer canopy and new signage.
Alternate Transportation
- Friday buses will run hourly from 6:00am to 6:00pm
- Saturday and Sunday buses will run hourly from 7:00am to 6:00pm
- Follow the signs at Richmond and Martinez for bus pickup locations
