Amtrak Vision for the Northeast Corridor
This report outlines developments in NEC planning and highlights key findings related to how Amtrak can translate various strategies and concepts for growth and improvement of the NEC into reality.

CONNECT NEC 2035
CONNECT NEC 2035 is a 15-year plan representing the most ambitious reinvestment program in the NEC’s history and a new way of planning: a multi-agency, multi-year, shared action plan guided by a long-term vision. The state governments of the Northeast, the federal government, eight commuter rail agencies, and Amtrak worked together through the NEC Commission to develop a detailed and efficient sequencing of infrastructure investment covering 150 projects along the corridor.

FY 21-26 Amtrak Five Year Service and Asset Line Plans
These Service and Asset Line Plans describe Amtrak’s strategic efforts and establish the metrics and outcomes we will track to monitor performance.

NEC Commission Critical Infrastructure Needs on the Northeast Corridor
This report and its accompanying interactive map serve as an informational resource that describes the improvements needed to reduce delays, achieve a state-of-good-repair, and build capacity for growth on the NEC. Released in January 2013.

NEC FUTURE
NEC FUTURE is a comprehensive planning effort to define, evaluate and prioritize future investments in the Northeast Corridor, launched by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) in February 2012. FRA’s work will include new ideas and approaches to grow the region’s intercity, commuter and freight rail services and an environmental evaluation of proposed transportation alternatives.
NEC FUTURE will create a framework for the future investments needed to improve passenger rail capacity and service through 2040. Technical work includes an analysis of market conditions in the corridor, development of reasonable program alternatives and an evaluation of the environmental impacts of those alternatives, and a recommended approach that balances the needs of various users of the corridor – whether commuters, intercity rail passengers, or rail freight – in a manner that ensures safe, efficient travel throughout the Northeast.

Northeast Corridor Capital Investment Plan (Fiscal Years 2020 - 2024)
The NEC Capital Investment Plan for federal fiscal years 2020-2024 documents the funding requirement (i.e., the funding available and needed) during the five-year time frame for planned and ongoing capital investments on the NEC. Capital renewal of basic infrastructure, which represents the routine repair or replacement of existing basic infrastructure assets, and special projects, which includes major backlog projects and improvement projects, are both included in the plan. (Released March 2019)
