Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer
DJ Stadtler is Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. He oversees the Procurement and Logistics; Human Resources; Real Estate, Stations and Facilities; Labor Relations; Enterprise Program Management; and Passenger Accessibility departments. DJ formerly led the Operations department, coordinating its realignment into separate but collaborative business lines for Northeast Corridor, State-Supported and Long-Distance services.
DJ joined Amtrak in January 2009, starting his Amtrak career as Chief of Staff in the Office of the President and CEO, and was reassigned to the position of Chief Financial Officer shortly thereafter. In that role he oversaw all of Amtrak’s financial operations.
He began his career in 1988, working at the federal Office of Personnel Management (OPM), primarily in the Retirement and Insurance group, with budgeting and financial responsibility for the $2 billion Federal Employees’ Health Benefits Fund. DJ left OPM in 1997 to join the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) as the Deputy Director of the Federal Railroad Administration’s Office of Budget. He held progressively more senior positions at the DOT, and left in 2008 as the FRA’s Deputy Chief Financial Officer.
He subsequently joined EssTech Engineering, his family’s manufacturing company located in central Virginia, as chief financial officer. In that role he oversaw the financial, inventory and operational functions of the business which primarily manufactures cables and wire harnesses for military manufacturing applications.
