I have been a passenger on Amtrak for years and have taken some great train trips during that time. I probably have traveled more than 20,000 miles. Names like the California Zephyr, Empire Builder, Coast Starlight, Sunset Limited, Adirondack, Downeaster and several other trains are very familiar to me. I love riding the trains because they are a relaxing way to see the United States.
I was amazed the first time that I rode the California Zephyr through the mountains of Colorado and over the Donner Pass west of Reno, Nevada. I was able to ride along the Connecticut shoreline and see the sailboats moored on Long Island Sound. Another wonderful experience was seeing a New Mexico sunrise in the Lounge Car of the Sunset Limited.
The best part of riding Amtrak is meeting people and sharing experiences about all the great train trips we have taken. I hope that everyone gets a chance to experience the sights along the Amtrak routes.
