by Daniel and Alexander
Our names are Daniel and Alexander, and we love trains. Recently, our mom and dad told us that we could choose between birthdays parties for our upcoming sixth and eighth birthdays, or an overnight train ride on Amtrak. In a blink of an eye we said "TRAIN RIDE!!!"
Alexander ready for bed.
We were very excited, because the furthest we've ever traveled on a train was from Washington D.C., to New York City on the Acela. The shortest overnight ride turned out to be from Los Angeles to Albuquerque. We really enjoyed it a lot.
Daniel and his activity book.
Our conductor was very nice, and she directed us to our family cabin, where we played "Engineer Daniel" and "Engineer Alexander" on our bunk beds.
We got to have meals with a view on the Dining Dar, sit in the Observation Car and enjoy the sights, color in our Amtrak activity book in the Café Car, and then walked from one end of the train to the other.
It was so much fun, we didn't need our DVD player, because we didn't want to miss anything. We hope to be able to take another long train ride again soon.
