Track work being performed by North County Transit District will affect Pacific Surfliner service on May 2 and 3, 2015, as described below:

Canceled Trains: Trains 562, 566, 572, 582, 565, 567, 573 and 583

The trains listed above will be canceled. Contact Amtrak for alternate bus/train schedules.

Southbound Trains Terminating at Irvine

Trains 564, 580, 768, 774, 784 and 1790 will terminate at Irvine. Express and local bus service will be provided between Irvine, San Diego and intermediate stations. See alternate bus details below.

Southbound Train 796

Train 796 will terminate at Los Angeles. Bus service will be provided at all remaining stations, except at Carlsbad (Village), Carlsbad (Poinsettia), Encinitas and Sorrento Valley. See additional bus details below.

Northbound Trains Originating at Irvine

Trains 579, 591, 595, 763, 769, 777 and 785 will originate at Irvine. Express and local bus service will be provided at stations from San Diego to Irvine. Buses will depart earlier than the corresponding train schedules. See additional bus details below.

Alternate Bus Service
  • Express buses will operate to Irvine from various origins: San Diego, Solana Beach, Oceanside and San Juan Capistrano.
  • No buses will operate from Old Town. Passengers from Old Town can take the San Diego Trolley to San Diego to board the bus, or go to San Diego or Solana Beach. Allow sufficient travel time.
  • Not all intermediate travel will be possible by bus.
  • Buses will not stop at the Coaster stations: Sorrento Valley, Encinitas, Carlsbad-Poinsettia or Carlsbad Village.

<![CDATA[Coast Starlight Trains 11 and 14: Track Work Affect Trains between Portland and Seattle]]> Effective April 26, 27 and 28, 2015

Track work being performed by BNSF Railroad will affect the Coast Starlight between Portland and Seattle, on the dates indicated below:

Sunday and Monday, April 26 and 27, 2015: Train 14

Train 14, which normally operates from Los Angeles to Seattle, will terminate in Portland on April 26 and 27, 2015. At Portland, passengers will detrain and board a bus that will make stops at Vancouver, Kelso, Centralia, Olympia, Tacoma and Seattle.

Monday and Tuesday, April 27 and 28, 2015: Trains 11

Train 11, which normally operates from Seattle to Los Angeles, will originate in Portland on April 27 and 28, 2015. Bus service will be available from Seattle to Portland, making stops in Tacoma, Olympia, Centralia, Kelso, Vancouver and Portland.

<![CDATA[Eastbound California Zephyr Train 6: Temporary Schedule Change]]> Effective April 15 - 24 and April 30 - May 9, 2015

On the dates shown below, eastbound Train 6 will operate according to a later schedule at all stations from Emeryville to Chicago, due to track work being performed by Union Pacific Railroad. The track work will affect the schedule for Train 6 during the following periods:

  • April 15 - 24, 2015
    This schedule change will be effective with the departure of Train 6 at Emeryville on April 15, 2015, which arrives in Chicago on April 17, 2015. This schedule change will remain in effect through the departure of Train 6 on April 22, 2015, until its arrival in Chicago on April 24, 2015.

  • April 30 - May 9, 2015
    This schedule change will be effective with the departure of Train 6 at Emeryville on April 30, 2015, which arrives in Chicago on May 2, 2015. This schedule change will remain in effect through the departure of Train 6 on May 7, 2015, until its arrival in Chicago on May 9, 2015.

<![CDATA[Amtrak Moves from the Ferry Building to Transbay Temporary Terminal]]> Effective March 1, 2015
Service Ends February 28, 2015, at the Ferry Building

Amtrak will move its ticket office from the Ferry Building location at the close of business on Saturday, February 28, 2015, and begin serving Transbay Temporary Terminal on Sunday, March 1, 2015. The Transbay Temporary Terminal is located at Folsom and Beale approximately a half mile south of the Ferry building. The entrance to the facility is on Folsom Street between Main and Beale Streets.

The Transbay Temporary Terminal serves passengers connecting to and from San Joaquin, Capitol Corridor, Coast Starlight, California Zephyr and Coast buses from Southern California. Transbay Temporary Terminal will be staffed by Amtrak personnel and offer all services that were available at the Ferry Building, including checked baggage, ticketing, and passenger services. The hours of operation will also remain the same.

All tickets issued prior to March 1, 2015, will list the Ferry Building. However, passengers traveling on or after March 1, 2015, with tickets for the Ferry Building will use the Transbay Temporary Terminal.

Security Check

Upon entering the facility, passengers must show your Amtrak ticket or photo I.D. to the Greyhound Security Staff. Greyhound security will also inspect bags and wand passengers for metal contraband who enter the building. Please allow additional time arriving for this process. Thruway buses will board at Bus Bays #7 and #8.

Ferry Building Option

The Thruway bus stop at the Hyatt Hotel (5 Embarcadero Center) is conveniently located 2 blocks west of the Ferry Building station. All trains will have a Thruway bus connection at the Hyatt effective March 1, 2015.

New Thruway Schedules Coming Soon

All other San Francisco bus stops will remain at their present location, however, there may be some altering of bus departure and arrival times due to the bus route changes. A new schedule will be released prior to the March 1, 2015, effective date.
