While the name or our next train is the Lake Shore Limited, you will see far more than just lakes when you come on board. This adventure will take you from America's heartland all the way to the East Coast. Along the way you'll see farms that stretch to the horizon, spectacular mountain ranges, famous rivers and some of the most beautiful skylines in the country.
Once the Lake Shore Limited gets beyond the three Great Lakes of Michigan, Erie and Ontario, the train heads through New York's picturesque Finger Lakes region. This area is home to dozens of New York's finest wineries. It's also where Harriet Tubman, founder of the famous Underground Railroad, came after her heroic service during the Civil War.
Close by is the majestic Niagara Falls and the famous locks on the Erie Canal. The train runs alongside the Mohawk River, where the banks are covered with countless varieties of trees and wild flowers.
The Lake Shore Limited then heads into Massachusetts, where the rolling hills and woods of the Berkshires will instantly remind you of the paintings by local artist Norman Rockwell. Nestled in this charming area is Tanglewood, the Berkshires' outdoor performance center that adds an orchestral soundtrack to the natural beauty that surrounds it.
The Lake Shore Limited's journey can end in New York City or in Boston, within blocks of the Atlantic Ocean, punctuating the variety of waterways and landscapes that make this entire trip so memorable.
