Your Amtrak.com User Profile

Why should I create a User Profile?

Although you don't need to create a User Profile to make reservations on Amtrak.com, you'll find the reservation process to be a faster and easier experience, more tailored to your individual needs, if you take a few minutes to create a User Profile.

  • You won't have to re-enter basic mailing and billing address information each time you make a reservation.
  • We'll remember your favorite departure and arrival stations.
  • We'll remember your Amtrak Guest Rewards number and any membership discount numbers you may use.
  • You'll be able to review your reservations online and reprint eTickets any time before travel.
  • You'll be able to review the usage history for any multi-ride tickets you've purchased.
  • You'll be able to cancel reservations made online and, based on eligibility, receive a refund.
  • You'll be able to review all eVouchers with the same e-mail address used in your profile, including issue date, all subsequent transaction/redemption information and balances.
  • You'll be able to use our 'Tripfolio' tool, a handy resource for creating a helpful printed portfolio, full of useful information that you can take along with you on your trip.
How do I create a User Profile?

It's easy and should only take a few minutes. Just follow these steps:

1. Click the 'Register' link

The 'Register' link appears in the login area of the page, in the left navigation bar.

2. Create a login ID

Your e-mail address will be your login ID when you log into Amtrak.com.

If you are an Amtrak Guest Rewards member, your Amtrak Guest Rewards number is not your Amtrak.com login ID.

3. Create a password

Use at least 8 but no more than 20 characters (letters and/or numbers). Passwords must include at least 1 alpha character and at least 1 number or special character. Some special characters cannot be included in your password.

5. Provide your billing address

To successfully purchase tickets on Amtrak.com, your billing address must match the address where your credit card statement is mailed.

6. Provide your mailing address

We can only mail tickets to addresses within the United States and Canada. We cannot mail tickets to:

  • Locations outside of the US and Canada
  • Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, or any other US territory or possession
  • P.O. boxes
  • College dormitories
  • Military barracks
7. Complete your travel profile

Enter your favorite, or most frequently used departure and arrival stations, preferred passenger type and discount numbers, and we'll save you time by retrieving them when you log in and book online.

8. Link your Amtrak Guest Rewards account

Enter your Amtrak Guest Rewards Member Number and password to link your Amtrak.com and Amtrak Guest Rewards accounts. Then you'll be able to navigate between both sites without having to log in twice.

9. Decide if you would like to receive Amtrak updates

If you would like us to send you information by e-mail about new products, services and special offers, please check the box.

10. Save your User Profile

Review your information for accuracy, then click the 'Save Profile' button in the lower right corner of the page.

11. Change or update your profile whenever you like

To update your profile, log in and click 'My Profile' and change any of your settings.
