Tickets by Mail

Amtrak will mail tickets to US and Canadian addresses only if one of the following circumstances occurs:

  • the ticket window at your station is closed at the time of your departure, or
  • you are departing from an unstaffed station.
To the Continental US

For tickets sent by mail to most addresses within the continental US, you must purchase your tickets at least 9 days before your date of departure.

To Alaska and Hawaii

For tickets sent by mail to addresses in Alaska and Hawaii, you must purchase your tickets at least 15 days before travel.

To Canada

For tickets sent by mail to most addresses within Canada, you must purchase your tickets at least 15 days before your date of departure.

Ticket-by-Mail Service Not Available
  • Locations outside of the US and Canada
  • Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, or any other US territory or possession
  • APO/AFO addresses
Delivery Service

Tickets are delivered by the US Postal Service in the United States and by Canada Post in Canada according to your local delivery schedule.

No Fee for Ticket-by-Mail Service

There are no additional fees for Ticket-by-Mail service.
